Vinny- the 1963 Pontiac Le Mans
with an amazing history!!
Rescued from the crusher in California a few years ago this car was named one of the top 10 Street Rods by Hot Rod magazine in 2007. Builder Tom “Turk” Napierkowski assembled a wide variety of “salvaged” parts resulting in a twin turbo big block that makes 1120 RWHP with 30 pounds of boost. The car is routinely driven by its current owner, Rob Freyvogel, to and from the Flashlight Drag events where it competes in the “Big Dog” class with consistent success.
Recent accomplishments include breaking three land speed records in May of this year at the Maxton “Monster Mile” with a top speed in excess of 197 MPH. Rob rented the car to driver Dennis Lindberg from Denmark in May and again in late June when the car demolished the A and AA Blown Gas Altered Class record by 23 MPH with a top speed of 215.88 MPH.
Vinny, Rob and Dennis are due back at Maxton to conquer more land speed records in September. Stay tuned for more exciting news on this exceptional car, the ultimate Sleeper!
